Module 1 - Core Session: How can NetZeroCities support my city's climate transition goals?

Topic: NetZeroCities programme, offering, systemic approach, what works in Mission Cities

 

Description:  

The introductory core session marks the launch of the NZC Learning Programme.  This programme is designed to introduce cities to the broader context of the EU Cities Mission, with a particular focus on its strategic vision and its approach to reach climate neutrality. Select Mission Cities will also share success stories to showcase practical examples of progress towards climate neutrality.  

 

The session will present an overview of the NetZeroCities offer for new cities to the Mission Platform, including key features, objectives, and upcoming events. Participants will be introduced to the structure and focus of the Learning Programme, including the learning pathways, upcoming modules, and will have the opportunity to ask questions. 

 

 

By the end of the module participants will:

    • Be inspired by how Mission Cities have successfully planned for climate neutrality. 

    • Learn about the support available from NZC and how to access key learning resources offered to all cities. Connect with other cities through groups and events. 

    • Gain ideas on how to build capacity for action, even when resources are limited. 

     

Who is this session for?

  • Anyone working in a Local Authority in a Political of technical level 
  • Project managers / coordinators (i.e, funded projects) 
  • City’s consultants and researchers from local institutions

UTMC (2023-2027)
The Urban Transitions Mission Centre extends the EU Cities Mission globally. It supports cities in Europe and worldwide with knowledge exchange, financing, and capacity-building. UTMC links Mission Cities with international peers, scaling solutions and accelerating the global transition to climate-neutral and sustainable urban futures.
 
Istanbul’s first Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) aims to create an inclusive, resilient, and eco-friendly transport network. Co-financed by the EU and led by GIZ, it introduces low-emission zones, pedestrian/cycling routes, disaster-resilient systems, and community engagement, ensuring safe, accessible mobility for all, while guiding long-term sustainable investments.
