Dijon has set itself the goal of being carbon neutral. The city has been implementing an ambitious policy to fight climate change since 2008.

 

In these past years Dijon has involved local actors to co-construct this strategy and has mobilized national and European funds and initiatives to help the city achieve carbon neutrality. The selection of Dijon in several H2020 initiatives like REPONSE is a clear sign of the city’s determination to reach the targets. The climate objective is central in Dijon’s municipal policy.

Boosting Green workforce in Cities - French cities ECT activity

JET Cities addresses the employment risks and opportunities of the ecological transition by developing inclusive pathways to green jobs. The five cities represent 3.5 million jobs and 6% of France’s carbon footprint. Between 7–11% of jobs are considered at risk due to the transition. The project responds to this by: Anticipating economic disruptions and workforce needs Supporting vulnerable groups through professional integration Aligning local employment strategies with national ecological planning Strengthening the role of cities in climate action and workforce transformation It builds on Climate City Contracts and national strategies to territorialize ecological planning and make climate action a shared concern across departments. Objectives Diagnose local workforce needs and skill gaps in green sectors Promote green job opportunities, especially for vulnerable populations Pilot strategic workforce planning tools for public administrations Strengthen cities’ operational role in employment and integration Develop replicable models for workforce transition and climate action ECT = Enabling City Transformation

FAASST-NZ Facilitate trAnsition Actions maSSification Towards Net Zero - Dijon pilot activity

Dijon joined the Pilot Cities Programme to benefit from the framework and expertise needed to structure actions and create new territorial engineering and governance. The goal: increase scale and speed of net zero projects through new structures for project development and investment, while reducing energy consumption and promoting renewable energy production.
