Module 2-Core session: Developing a transition team, mapping and activating the ecosystem

When: 30 September 2025 | 9:15-11:00 CET

Duration: 1 hr 45 min

How can we develop capacity to work on the climate transition, go beyond working in silos and collaborate with the city's stakeholders?

In this interactive session on leading urban climate transitions, you will explore what a transition is and what it takes to lead one. Participants will learn strategies to inspire colleagues, build a committed transition team, and draw lessons from Mission Cities - understanding what worked, what didn’t, and why. City representatives from Vitoria-Gasteiz and a second city (tbc) will share their experiences, making this session ideal for anyone leading urban climate efforts who wants to move beyond silos and foster real collaboration.

By the end of the module participants will:

  • Grasp what a transition is - and what it takes to lead one.
  • Understand who needs to be involved, actors both inside and outside the city.
  • Discover ways to inspire colleagues and build a committed transition team
  • Take away lessons from Mission Cities - what worked, what didn’t, and why.

Who is this session for?

City representatives - such as Climate Officers and those managing EU-funded programs - who are leading or supporting urban transition initiatives.
