Cork is a vibrant city located in the South-West Region of Ireland and is the second largest city in the country. It has a population ranging between 80,000 and 150,000. The city is nestled in one of the world's largest natural harbors and is surrounded by waterways and hills, contributing to its unique geographical setting. The city's economy is highly diversified, with a strong presence in the pharmaceutical and health research sector, making it a hub for science and research. The port city is also a significant economic entity in Ireland, contributing substantially to the Irish economy.

Cork has been committed to the Mission from the outset and has a large team involved in setting the strategic direction.

The City was focused on the production of the LACAP for the first twelve months of the Mission, while also considering how to strategically evolve from the LACAP to the stronger and nearer target required for the Mission.

Cork has in place several climate initiatives such as the Open Street Projec greening the city, a food programme with FEAST, the pilot programme together with Dublin on Build Capa-Cities a microcredential programme to equip the Local Authorities Officers, built on the innovative vehicle of behavioral science to bridge disciplines and build capacity through a challenge-led approach.
