Cork is Ireland’s second city. It is a dynamic, rapidly growing city that serves as the economic, social and cultural hub for South and Southwestern Ireland.

 

The 2022 Census reported a population of approximately 222,000. The Cork City Development Plan 2022- 2028 (CDP) projects that the population will grow to approximately 340,000 by 2040. The city is the fastest growing in Ireland and is the second-largest English-speaking city in the EU. It has experienced notable levels of foreign direct investment in recent years and is amid a transformational decade which will see huge investment in its transport infrastructure, housing stock, and public realm. The CDP places sustainability and climate resilience at the top of its priorities, to be achieved through compact development and the achievement of 15-minute neighbourhoods. The Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) is a European Commission initiative bringing together 136 cities to achieve intelligent, socially responsible and sustainable growth through advanced technologies. EPC Related Payment: Port of Cork and Kerry County council Pump upgrades

Port of Cork: There is a gain share agreement between the customer and the ESCO, whereby if the actual savings are 4%-6% of the overall energy use, the ESCO will be paid their fees in full. If, however, savings are below 4% of overall energy use, the customer may claw back a percentage of the fees paid to the ESCO. If savings exceed 6% of overall energy use, the ESCO will be paid in bonus. Kerry County council Pump upgrades: In the tendering process, marks are awarded for a pump systems life time costs as opposed to direct comparison of capital costs. In this case the project is awarded to the one with the lowest running costs as opposed to upfront capital costs.
