Florence - Lighting the path to climate neutrality

Florence is illuminated by over 40,500 lampposts and 3,500 traffic lights, all of which required upgrades to meet the energy-saving targets outlined in the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (2020) and the Smart City Plan (2030-2050). The challenge was to design a solution that respected the requirements of UNESCO recognition while improving efficiency.

Florence, Italy case studies - Intelligent Cities Challenge

The Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) is a European Commission initiative bringing together 136 cities to achieve intelligent, socially responsible and sustainable growth through advanced technologies. The Cities Best Practice Series is aimed at learning from the best practices across Mission Cities! These monthly online sessions provide a platform to learn from the best on-the-ground experiences, fostering a discussion about key challenges, leaving space for questions, reflections and comparisons. The second session is dedicated to "Urban Mobility and Transport Innovative Solutions”. It highlights 4-5 Mission Cities who have developed innovative and impactful approaches to transport and urban mobility.
